For those of you who are not aware, the IISHF has changed the system for eligibilty for European places, due to the inclusion of further countries in the IISHF (Poland and Austria) during 2006.
BiSHA no longer have an automatic place for anyone other than BiSHA National Champions, though other places may be awarded to BiSHA depending on the venue and the size of the tournament.
However, according to IISHF rules, BiSHA have to notify IISHF by 25th January whether the top 3 teams from each Nationals would be prepared to take up places, if they are offered to BiSHA. The National Champions also have to confirm their participation.
Please note: once a team agrees to take a place, if you have to then withdraw from participation there will be a considerable fine for doing so, levied by the IISHF.
Eligibilty of players will be as per IISHF rules quote:
According to point 7.4 Tournament Regulations - "if the Competition for a European Cup is held in the following year, participating teams may play any player who was part of the team in the previous year even if he/she is too old. The player must have been part of the previous year’s squad and must still be registered with the same club; if the player has changed clubs in the new season then he cannot play."
The automatically qualified teams are:
- Peewee - Chelmsford Checkers
- Youth - Wigan Warlords
- Junior - Borehamwood Kings
- Senior - Borehamwood Crusaders
The following teams are requested to register their willingness to participate if requested:
- Peewee - Oxford Storm, Borehamwood Lionhearts
- Youth - Bircotes Bombers, Oxford Tornadoes
- Junior - West Coast Wasps, Wigan Warlords
- Senior - Norton Cyclones, Hallamshire Hornets
Of course, you must be registered and playing in a BiSHA League to enter. The tournaments are scheduled as follows:
- Peewee - Kaarst, Germany - 19th/20th May 2007
- Youth - Krefeld, Germany - 25th/26th August 2007
- Junior - Köln, Germany - 9th/10th June 2007
- Senior - Montreux, Switzerland - 11th/13th May 2007
Please will teams confirm their intentions by 20th January 2007.
