NEWSCanada Coast To Coast 2007Date Posted : 11th June 2007
Ben Knock of Kingston Street Flyers and friend Andrew Baker are cycling across Canada to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support.
Canada Coast to Coast 2007 is a touring bicycle journey across Canada from Victoria in British Columbia to St John's in Newfoundland. Occupying the northern half of the North American continent, Canada is the second-largest country in the world after Russia. From east to west, Canada encompasses six time zones, ten provinces and three territories. Because of the harsh northern climate, only twelve percent of the land is suitable for agriculture. Most of the population lives within a few hundred miles of the southern border with the United States, where the climate is milder.
The adventure will cover approximately 5,100 miles over a period of 3 months commencing on July 1st 2007. No support vehicles will be provided, this challenge will be a completely unsupported ride requiring the participants to carry their life on their bike from start to finish.
MacMillan Cancer Support is a fantastic organisation that provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support to cancer patients and the loving people that surround them.
Ben and Andrew have set a fundraising target of £10,200 which is approximately 1 pound for every mile each of the lads will ride.
Please note that this trip is an entirely self-funded journey so 100% of all donations made will go directly to MacMillan Cancer Support.
