NewsiiSHF & FIRS to Join Forces?Date Posted : 5th September 2005The FIRS Organising Committee President Mr. Gilbert Portier invited IISHF President Piergiovanni Gionchetta to FIRS Inline Hockey World Championships, which were held between 29th June and 9th July in Paris, in order that Mr. Gionchetta could meet the FIRS Inline Hockey President Mr. Georges Pickard. The aim of the meeting was to continue the discussions conducted with former FIRS President Mr. Isidro Oliveras, to further explore the future of both Sports. Both Presidents affirmed that there were no obstacles or negative perspectives from either side and confirmed their intentions that the two sports and Federations would collaborate together and continue this approach for a common future. It was stated on behalf of FIRS, to save the equilibrium between the disciplines, Inline Skater Hockey could not be a new Discipline, but should join the existing Inline Hockey Discipline as a Sub Discipline. The IISHF Presidium will inform its member countries about the content of this meeting and the possible different avenues of collaboration with FIRS and will put this item on the agenda for discussion at the next General Meeting.
