SASH JUNIOR REGIONAL TEAM ANNOUNCED

On Monday 22nd May, the SASH Junior Regional Team for the forthcoming Bisha Regional Championships (to be held at Lord Roberts Centre, Bisley on 3rd and 4th June) was confirmed. The team was selected from a high-quality field of invited players, following a trial held last Saturday 20th May at Faringdon.

It is planned that, with the exception of those top-age players moving up to Senior level, this team will form the core of a squad which will meet for regular training sessions throughout the year, with a view to achieving success at future Regional Championships. Manager and coaches will observe league matches throughout the season and invite other players to join the squad sessions on the basis of their performances. All squad players will be given equal opportunity for selection to the team.

John Linnard, Team Manager, says: ' SASH is known throughout the country for the strength of its teams and talent of its players. Despite this, for a variety of reasons, we have not achieved the levels of success we might have expected at regional level in recent years. In order for our regional team to reflect the strength of the SASH League, we are committed to giving each and every player the opportunity to demonstrate his or her abilities during league matches and from there to participate in regular squad sessions to improve technical, tactical and strategic skills. This will not only improve them as players, but also serve to develop a competitive squad structure designed to bring success at regional level, thereby enhancing their chances for consideration for the National Squad.'
