SASH JUNIOR LEAGUES

Date Posted : 30th April 2005

After the recent loss of players, Swindon Flames Junior team have withdrawn from this year's league as they no longer have the critical mass of players needed to run a league season.

In order to ensure SASH have a competitive Junior competition their committee have decided that the Junior leagues will be re-organised into two divisional leagues according to ability along the following lines:

  • The bottom two teams from Group A will play the remainder of the season in Division 2.
  • Group A placings to be decided after all teams have played each other once - (Swindon Flames Gold v Reading Rhinos will complete the first round on Sun 8th May).
  • The top team in Group B (Shene Youngbloods) will play the rest of the season in Division 1.
  • The result will be two Leagues of 5 teams, playing each other twice through the season.
  • The top two teams in Division 1 will win automatic Nationals places.
  • The 3rd place team in Division 1 will play-off against the winners of Division 2 for the last Nationals place.
  • Any games already played between teams in the new divisional leagues will stand.
  • Any goals scored by players in the games above will also stand.
  • Any games between teams who are no longer in the same league will be void, as will goals scored in those games.

Obviously, SASH will need to re-arrange the fixture list as a result of these changes. Matches on Sunday 1st May remain as published with the exception of Oxford Storm v Newbury Colts (Peewee) match is to be re-arranged.

Due to two vacant slots at the end of the day on Sunday 1st May, there will be Senior Regional trials for the forthcoming Regional Tournament in Sheffield on 2nd-3rd July 2005.

There will be no Junior games on Sunday 15th May, to allow for the new league fixtures to be organised once all the games have been completed and the league places decided on Sunday 8th May.
